    The Role

    We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Marketing Communications to join our growing team in Lenexa, KS.  This is a key leadership position within the Company’s Marketing and Events organization. The individual in this role will drive the development of strategies, protocols and resources that will significantly influence the way the business communicates, supports change, engages our customers, to ultimately enhance and continuously improve the company’s overarching communications both internally and externally. 

    The Director of Marketing Communications must be a highly organized and influential leader, and a strong collaborator with a service mentality towards partnering with other teams in both the U.S. and international locations to ensure communication standards across the organization.  This is a hands-on role and candidates must demonstrate the ability to operate and excel at the strategic as well as tactical levels.

    What We Expect: 


    • Implement communications programs and processes to support short term and long-term business objectives, partnering closely with key customer facing teams including sales and design to insure a consistent external brand message.
    • Design, implement, and monitor communications standards to ensure company-wide compliance.
    • Leverage market intelligence and research / data elements to inform and guide recommendations around overall communication strategy; create effective reporting and communications cadence to ensure marketing research is shared with key stakeholders.
    • Manage the copywriting project intake process, providing guidance to the requestor and copywriter on prioritization and details of project; provide management direction where needed to ensure company standards are maintained.
    • Provide senior direction to the creation, copywriting and approval for all content for store communications, editorial content, store training materials and internal business communications.
    • Work collaboratively with team members across various disciplines, providing creative support and continuously exploring efficiencies and evolving best-practices in marketing.
    • Function as the primary contact on responses from various publications, news outlets, internet / social media inquiries and escalated customer communications requiring an official response.
    • Manage the writing and approval of all official press releases, working closely with senior leaders as needed to cultivate the company’s message.
    • Direct the management of marketing projects through the Marketing Planning function by ensuring deadlines are met and any changes are documented and approved.
    • Provide leadership to the core Marketing team, working with each member of the team on their individual development and goals.
    • Manage team project workflow, ensuring daily, weekly, monthly projects are completed on time and within budget.


    What We Are Looking For:  


    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related emphasis required.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience, including large-agency interactive and client-side experience with at least 5 years’ direct experience leading communications or similar marketing teams and growing strong talent.
    • Direct experience working with executive level leadership, ideally in a high growth, fast paced environment.
    • Strong leadership skills with high emotional intelligence with the ability to motivate a dynamic and creative team to detailed project timelines.
    • Excellent written, presentation, and oral communications skills with strong business acumen and ability to create communications and messaging that aligns with business objectives.
    • Strong analytical aptitude with ability to gather and process data to track Marketing performance and activities.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively design and execute integrated communication plans.
    • Deep knowledge and experience with multichannel marketing.
    • Market research driven with an ability to quantify data and feedback from multiple channels and stakeholders to assist in Marketing decisions and activities.
    • Superior workflow management and big picture thinking to oversee multiple projects and understand their wider strategic role.
    • Ability to build credibility and trust by demonstrating high ethical standards; extreme discretion required as work may involve confidential and sensitive information.
    • Strong ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with superior organizational logistics, and time management skills.
    • Willingness to work outside normal business hours on an occasional basis according to business needs.
