The Role

At Essense, creativity and innovation are fuelled by disciplined project management, structured workflows, and analytical problem-solving. We believe strong ideas only succeed when supported by clear plans, operational rigor, and continuous process improvement.

We are seeking a Creative Marketing Operations Manager to support our Creative Marketing, Events, and Store Experience department.  We are looking for an individual who is passionate about building efficient systems as much as they are about empowering people. This role is a strategic operational leader—responsible for driving project clarity, managing complex logistics, optimizing workflows, and ensuring cross-functional alignment across all creative marketing, corporate and internal events, and retail and wholesale initiatives.

Based in Kansas City, this individual will bring sharp planning skills, strong organization, and a solutions-first mindset to keep projects moving fast and flawlessly. They’ll be the glue across teams—boosting communication, spotting risks early, and clearing roadblocks before they slow anyone down.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in creative, fast-paced environments and knows how to turn big ideas into seamless execution. From major campaigns to high-impact events, they’ll streamline workflows and elevate delivery.  If you love solving problems and helping teams do their best work, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Provide project management support for Creative and Events internal projects, retail store initiatives, and other projects as needed.
  • Work upstream and downstream with partners to align on key dates impacting or impacted by activities within the department and with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Serve as the department intake for briefs, working with team members to identify gaps and needs before going into the department’s work streams.
  • Create and maintain necessary project management documentation, templates, and reports, to include project requirements, project briefs, status reports, SOW, meeting agendas/notes, and lessons learned
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to improve accountability and delivery performance.
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle; ensure key milestones and approvals are communicated and achieved.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and communicate issues and risks to the project deliverables and timelines
  • Independently work on projects as assigned, creating plans, frameworks and constructs to keep a project moving.
  • Actively create, optimize and/or document processes that will enable the teams to work more efficiently
  • Develop project frameworks, plans, and structures that keep initiatives on track without oversight dependency.
  • Leverage the tools and best practices of our centralized PMO when creating new process and managing more complex projects.
  • Responsible for communicating timely updates and distributing feedback to the appropriate team members.
  • Troubleshoot bottlenecks, proactively resolve issues, and keep projects moving forward.
  • Champion clarity and continuous improvement, embracing change and helping others adapt in a way that keeps people motivated and engaged.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • Required/Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Operations, or Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Communications, or similar field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years in either project management or operations. Marketing experience or working within a creative environment preferred.
  • Strong logistical planning and vendor management expertise.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously while meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Must be curious and have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to build and optimize processes in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at balancing multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented mindset aligned with entrepreneurial cultures.
  • Experience with Wrike or other project management tools; excellent Excel skills.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours on an occasional basis according to business needs.
